Cheviot Futures

One of the first of its kind in the North East, Cheviot Futures identifies simple, practical ways to adapt to the changing climate in North Northumberland.
Climate Change Schools Project
In a nutshell
Over the past two years, more than 100 schools in North East England have signed up to the Climate Change Schools Project. Led by Dr Krista McKinzey, the project works to put climate change at the heart of the national curriculum and make participating schools ‘beacons' of positive action in their communities.
Covenant of Mayors
In a nutshell
North East England is the first region in the UK, and Europe, to put itself firmly behind the commitment to reduce CO2 emissions. All 12 local authorities in the region have signed up to the European Covenant of Mayors, an ambitious initiative aiming to tackle climate change and reduce carbon emissions.

Greenhouse Gas study

The North East England Greenhouse Gas Emissions Baselines and Trajectories Study found that under a business-as-usual scenario, the region will not deliver against the Government's obligations under the Climate Change Act and international agreements.
